Lancashire Wildlife Trust have been granted £30,000 to conserve and enhance an environmental important lowland raised bog on Winmarleigh Moss, Wyre. Cycling Projects to receive a grant of £30,000 to develop their The Woodlands Wheels for All, Clayton-le-Moors establishing circular woodland paths for disabled users, walkers and parents with prams and wheelchairs so that all users can enjoy the woodland. Rossendale Leisure Trust have been granted £30,000 to build a bridleway link from Lee Quarry across to Brandwood Lower End Moor provided cycling opportunities. (The Fund previously supported the development of the nationally important cycling facility at Lee Quarry).
The Fairfield Association, Lancaster will receive £30,000 of support to develop 16 acres of disused farmland into a local nature reserve, play area and community orchard. Enhancing the Ecology at Fishwick, a scheme orgainsed by Lancashire Wildlife Trust is to receive a £17,750 grant to protect wildlife, educate people in wildlife matters and how to conserve it. Downham Village Hall to receive a grant of £13,500 to replace windows in the main hall, improve insulation, repaint and provide new seating. Longton VM Sports and Social Club have been granted £10,000 to update the club's function room and kitchen to increase useage by a wider range of people. Bilsborrow Village Hall are also to receive a grant of £10,000 to replace the hall's old kitchen. Ribble Catchment Conservation Trust have been granted £6,188 of funding to restore and enhance the upland habitat of Easington Brook. Fell View Play Area which is looked after by Caton-with-Littledale Parish Council have been awarded a £30,000 grant to refurbish the old play area. £30,000 will fund the refurbishment of a play and recreation area at Mornington Meadows, Saltcotes being developed by Mornington Meadow Community Group. Another grant has been awarded to Park View 4U. Previous funding had helped develop the park itself but this grant of £30,000 will go towards the provision of a resource centre in the park incorporating cafe, toilets and a large education/meeting room. Make Waddy Wonderful in Ansdell near Lytham will receive £30,000 for the Friends of Waddinton Park to redevelop a large park with play areas for children from tiny tots to young people age up to 15. Longholme Methodist Church will receive vital funding of £25,000 to repair the roof of the community facilties at the Church in Rawtenstall. £22,300 has been awarded to SPORTS to create a wildlife/bog area on the playing fields in Staining as a community resource. Adults with learning difficulties from Myerscough College will be involved in this innovative project. The Committee of Aughton Village Hall will receive £19,000 to upgrade and refurbish the kitchen, toilets and a small meeting room to modernise this out of date hall. This Dirtworks project involves a group of young adults aged 16-24 carrying out conservation work for the Lancashire Wildlife Trust showing Lancaster's Wild Side. A £16,450 grant will support a part-time Project Office. The Wildfowl and Wetland Trust's Martin Mere nature reserve have been granted £15,000 for the creation of 2.4ha of new reedbed to increase teh overwintering and breeding birds. The new wetland will form part of a reedbed adventure canoe trail that will be developed in 2011. The creation of a sensory garden rich in wildlife at the Lancashire Wildlife Trust's Penwortham Centre will receive £15,000. The garden is being developed by young volunteers and used by schools and groups visiting the centre. Halsall Parish Council has been granted £15,000 to complete Phase 3 of refurbishment at St Aidan's Hall, Ormskirk this will include insulation, eco lighting, new toilets and facilities for the disabled. £12,743 will be awarded to Downholland Parish Council upgrade a small play area and install play equipment for 2-7 year olds. Successful Board results - 7 October 2009 National cycling organisation, Sustrans, are to receive two grants -£28,500 to create an attractive multi-user greenway route along a former derelict railway line in West Padiham and, £17,000 to provide a link on the east side of Preston between National Route 6 and the old Longridge railway line cycle way. A £30,000 grant will go to the Nether Wyresdale Parish Council to extend existing playing fields in Scorton to provide a new area for 12/14 year olds and improve grass and seating areas for all members of the community. Kelbrook and Sough Village Hall were granted £11,300 to replace the roof on the hall and modernise the toilet facilities. Groundwork Lancashire West and Wigan will receive support of £30,000 to create a 8-12 year old childrens play area with a new access path in Mill Lane Park, Preston £15,000 goes to Overton & District Memorial Hall to improve the hall's kitchen and insulate the main hall ceiling to reduce heating costs Halsall Memorial Hall will also receive a grant for 15,000 to refurbish the hall providing a new refreshment bar, kitchen, toilets and lighting and redecoration throughout. Parbold Parish Council granted £15,000 to create a pathway around a wildflower meadow which is a biological heritage site to give safe access for all ages and abilities. St Anne's Church in Edgeside, Bacup will receive support of £9,870 to help create a modern community centre within the Victorian church. The grant will fund a new kitchen, chairs and portable screens. Successful Board results - July 2009 The Fund is pleased to support the following projects. Whittle-le-Woods Community Hall got a £30,000 to convert an adjoining building to extend the space in the main hall and provide a separate smaller meeting room. A boost for the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust at Martin Mere who will receive £30,000 to create a reedbed walk for the local community with access for wheelchair users. A £30,000 grant was awarded to Warton Community Recreation Committee to refurbish their out of date play area by installing a new toddlers play area and upgrade the landscaping. This is part of a wider scheme to upgrade the whole playing field complex. £15,000 was given to Middle Wood Trust Study Centre to assist with the refurbishment of the study centre itself providing toilets, showers and a diabled toilet, the installation of a new solar thermal hot water system and the refurbishment of the kitchen and redecoration. The Heritage Trust for the North West were granted a £10,000 grant to help restore a Lancashire Longhouse at Heysham to provide extended museum space, improve disabled access and new interpretation displays. Cuerden Valley Park Trust will be supported with a grant of £3,654 to increase the biodiversity of the woodlands and meadows of Cuerden Valley Park. Croston Church will receive £3,123 to upgrade a path leading to a sensory garden to be more suitable for disabled and blind visitors. The Parbold Scout Group are to receive £30,000 for their Hut on the Hill project to replace the existing hut with a new building that will serve as a base for all local youth initiatives. The high specification building will include good insulation and an environmentally efficient ground source heat pump. One of the Fund's 2008 £1/2 million winners, Halton Youth and Community Centre has been awarded a further grant of £30,000 to provide a new play and recreational outdoor facilities adjacent to the soon to be improved community centre. The facilities will focus on natural and adventure play. A £30,000 grant was awarded to Warton Community Recreation Committee to refurbish their out of date play area by installing a new toddlers play area and upgrade the landscaping. This is part of a wider scheme to upgrade the whole playing field complex.Successful Board results - 1 July 2009 Another upgrade and update of a widely used recreation area has been facilitated with a £30,000 grant to the Millhead Village Hall and Playing Fields Association Lancashire Wildlife Trust are to receive £28,200 to enhance and protect the sand dune system on the Fylde coast and in particular in the north Lytham area. The project will include managing the dune habitat, training volunteers and increase public access and enjoyment of the dunes. The Hawthorne Park Trust have been granted £25,000 to provide an all weather multi use sports/play area for young people in the village of Thorton. West View Community Association are to receive £25,000 for the creation of a nature/environmental area in the West View People's Park. The project will include a nature area and outdoor classroom space and forms part of a larger Big Lottery scheme to provide an all purpose park for the people of Fleetwood. Pilling Memorial Hall are to receive £25,000 towards the cost of the installation of a wind turbine and new energy efficient condensing boiler for the village hall. The Turbine will heat water and feed excess electricity to the national grid to generate income for the hall. Heritage Trust for the North West were awarded £18,825 for restoration of the Old Privy in the walls of Lytham Hall. The Privy will be developed using traditonal building techniques and will become an information centre for Lytham Hall and parkland. The unique elements of this tiny building will be retained including the 'double-seater' toilet. Bolton le Sands Village Hall will receive an award of £15,000 to install an energy efficient heating system and to draughtproof and insulate the hall's roof space. Saheli Community Garden in Accrington have been granted £15,000 to create an accessible community garden at the rear of the Saheli Community Centre, a converted Salvation Army meeting hall. Lancashire County Council have provided the garden design plans and the planting will reflect Asian heritage. Freckleton Parish Council were awarded a grant of £8,500 to resurface the worn out all weather sports area at Rawstorne Sports Centre. Elswick and District Village Hall were granted £3,400 to replace outdated lighting with low energy fittings and upgrade the toilet facilities with low and high flush mechanisms to save water. |
